Sharjah Archaeology Authority

The Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA) was established in 1986 as the "Department of Archaeology and Heritage" under the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information. The SAA`s primary role is to oversee and protect archaeological and heritage sites throughout the Sharjah Emirate, conduct archaeological exploration operations, and supervise foreign expeditions in the region. The authority aims to preserve Sharjah`s rich history and cultural heritage while promoting awareness and education about the emirate`s past. With a focus on research, conservation, and community engagement, the SAA plays a crucial role in safeguarding Sharjah`s invaluable historical legacy.
